Biography
Kian Mottahedeh received his JD with an emphasis in Business Law from Whittier College School of Law and his BA degree in Sociology and Political Science from the University of California, Irvine. His law school activities include leadership positions in the Jewish Law Student Association and participation in Moot Court competitions. He studied law at Universidad de Santander in Spain during a summer abroad program. While in law school Kian’s studies focused on white-collar crime and corporate bankruptcies. Over the course of his career, Kian has represented some 1500 consumers in chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcies. He has successfully negotiated the removal of judgment liens and second mortgages that encumbered properties belonging to his clients.
Kian has successfully represented several corporations in chapter 7 bankruptcy filings. Kian has helped many corporations with the liquidation of assets in order to pay off corporate liabilities such as income and payroll taxes. Kian worked as a senior associate for six years at California’s largest consumer bankruptcy firm before co-founding SM Law Group. Kian is a member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice in the Central, Eastern, Northern, and Southern Districts of California.
Kian has traveled throughout Europe and South America. When away from the firm, Kian enjoys fishing and the practice of martial arts.
Kian’s areas of expertise include consumer protection litigation as well as consumer and corporate bankruptcy and restructuring.
